Hillsdale Fabricators served as the prime steel contractor for the fabrication and erection of more than 15,500 tons of structural steel for the retractable roof stadium that is home to the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts.

The stadium features a first-of-its-kind retractable roof that opens lengthwise and includes an operable glass window wall overlooking downtown Indianapolis. Two 752-foot-long superframes span parallel to the field sidelines, supporting the roof system without obstructing sight lines. The roof panels, each measuring 650 feet by 150 feet, are supported by five transverse box trusses spanning between the superframes. Hillsdale Fabricators self-performed steel erection in a joint venture with Derr Steel Erection Co.
