Posted on Posted onHillsdale fabricated temporary sliding steel girders for relocation of a new steel truss superstructure. The structure was moved 55 feet laterally onto its permanent, newly rehabilitated piers using a technique called bridge sliding. The team slid the 2,428-foot-long structure along steel rails and plates into place, making it the longest bridge slide in North America.
