Hillsdale Fabricators performed fabrication and shop preassembly for the 41st Street Bridge, Chicago’s pedestrian bridge connecting Williams-Davis Park with the Lakefront Trail. The 676-ton steel bridge spans 750 feet over Lake Shore Drive and Metra commuter rail lines.

The bridge is built from induction-bent 36-inch and 48-inch-diameter pipe with shop-welded box girders. Hillsdale Fabricators shipped the bridge to the jobsite in 28 built-up pieces, including sections weighing up to 40 tons and measuring 24 feet wide by 60 feet long. To support field erection, the bridge was preassembled in five shop groups—including a 243-foot-long preassembly—to confirm fit-up before shipment.
