Kearl Oil Sands Froth Treatment Facility

Hillsdale Fabricators supplied structural steel for the Kearl Oil Sands Froth Treatment Facility in Alberta, Canada, supporting construction of more than 500 equipment modules totaling 20,000 tons of structural and miscellaneous steel. Hillsdale Fabricators served as the sole-source steel provider, managing fabrication, delivery, connection design, detailing, fireproofing and material procurement.

Steel was fabricated at Hillsdale Fabricators’ 250,000-square-foot facility in St. Louis to Canadian Welding Bureau standards and shipped approximately 1,800 miles to Edmonton for assembly. The work supported a rigorous schedule and stringent quality requirements for a large-scale oil sands development, leading to continued involvement on the Kearl Expansion Project.
