As part of the Milton-Madison Bridge rehabilitation, Hillsdale Fabricators fabricated the temporary sliding steel girders used to move the new steel truss superstructure into its final position.

Instead of building the bridge in place, the 2,428-foot-long truss was assembled alongside the existing span and then slid 55 feet laterally onto newly rehabilitated piers using steel rails and plates. The move was the longest bridge slide in North America and kept the bi-state connection between Milton, Kentucky, and Madison, Indiana, open with only a few weeks of closures, compared with an original estimate of over a year.
